Original printed front cover bound in.Important early monograph on European Aphidae with beautiful hand-coloured illustrations and including many new species described by Koch. The work was edited by Herrich-Schaeffer, who stated, in the preface dated December 1853, that the work would be finished in ten issues with 60 plates, but it was completed in nine issues with 54 plates. Carl Ludwig Koch (born in 1778) died in the year it was published. The first and the last few plates are a bit foxed in the margins with some marginal foxing in the text as well. Edition originale et premier tirage de l'une des plus ancienne études sur les aphidiae. Dos passé de couleurs, bel état interieur, les planches sont trés fraiches.
