‎Plan manuscrit, encre noire et aquarelle, des bains de Pfäfers dans la gorge de Tamina, dans le canton de Saint-Gall. Y sont figurés la rivière, les gorges, la promenade qui monte en haut des gorges, et le plan des bâtiments des bains. Découvertes vers 1240 par des chasseurs, les sources chaudes des gorges de la Tamina devinrent rapidement réputées. Au XVIIe siècle, les Bénédictins, propriétaires des lieux, construisirent des canalisations pour acheminer l'eau en dehors des gorges, et construisirent des bâtiments pour accueillir les curistes. Paracelse fut le premier médecin des bains de Pfäfers, dont il démontra les vertus curatives. Le plan est orienté, l'échelle est en pas de Zürich, le relief est marqué par des hachures. Traces de pliures, petites piqûres.‎

‎Créé en mars 1928 par Lucien Vogel, l'hebdomadaire Vu, comptera plus de six cents numéros jusqu'à la fin de sa parution en mai 1940. Par la présence constante de la photographie reproduite en héliogravure dans des mises en page recherchées, Vu est le premier magazine d’actualité à travailler avec de grands photographes comme André Kertész, Man Ray, Germaine Krull, Éli Lotar, Brassaï ou Robert Capa, à leur laisser le choix de leurs sujets, et à faire apparaître leur nom. Vu se distinguera par sa ligne éditoriale suivant de très près la montée des dictatures (Vu au pays des Soviets (1931), L'énigme allemande (1932), Fin d'une civilisation (1933), Interrogatoire de la Chine (1934), Vu en Espagne (1936), etc. Vu servira de modèle à ses successeurs célèbres, Life puis Paris Match. ‎

Il a notamment apporté d'importantes contributions à l'étude de la perception des sons et des couleurs ainsi qu'à la thermodynamique. - Helmholtz a vécu à une époque propice à développer lexpérimentation grâce à un arsenal dinstruments de plus en plus performants, qui prolongent, démultiplient, amplifient, accélèrent le regard des scientifiques sur la nature des phénomènes (et dans ce cas précis, des phénomènes sonores) pour mettre en évidence les explications de certaines observations : la technique a permis de transcrire sous une forme objective des phénomènes inexpliqués ; ainsi, lacoustique progresse considérablement et Helmholtz fonde l'optique physiologique et la psychophysique.
